Interserve PLC has become the latest company to pledge its support to the Safer London Foundation (SLF), the Metropolitan Police charity.
The new partnership will see Interserve donate £25,000 a year over the next three years to SLF in return for membership of the Safer London Foundation Club. As Foundation Club members Interserve employees will be will have access to the training needed for involvement in mentoring programmes run by SLF and will be given the chance to take an active role in the work of this unique charity.
Interserve’s managing director Bruce Melizan is to join SLF’s board of trustees and will be making a valuable contribution to the governance of the Foundation.
Interserve and SLF will be working together on the Aspire Project over the coming months. Aspire matches ex-offenders with mentors from the business world in order to support them into sustainable training and employment. SLF will train Interserve employees on the issues that face those who have served time in prison as well as on the workings of the criminal justice system. Other mentoring programmes included pairing up with Metropolitan Police officers and staff to help in their professional development.
Interserve’s staff can also join SLF’s ‘Skills Bank’ of volunteers; the charity’s invaluable resource which helps match volunteers with the needs of community-led crime prevention and victim support projects across the capital.

At SLF we offer offers the business community a unique opportunity to make a real difference to lives in London and to learn and develop in ways that they never expected.
