This is Andres’ story
Now clean and starting university, Andres was involved in class A drugs, robbery and gang violence from leaving school.
"At the age of 16 I somehow I started to mix with the wrong crowd. I found myself involved in crime and drugs. My life went downhill from there - I was taking and involved in class A drugs. I was involved in robberies and all sorts of madness. I was really confused, I wanted to change but I couldn't see how I could get out of this
environment. At one time I got stabbed, I stabbed someone else - It got so bad I really saw I was going to die young.
After attending the Streetbeatz conflict transformation programme, and because I wanted to change, I got the opportunity to work as a facilitator with Streetbeatz. It changed my life in a radical way, I now feel I can do something productive and I can contribute to society and pay my debts for the damage I caused
in the past.
SLF funded a project coordinator post for Streetbeatz
