Rick joined Sussex Police in 1981 and undertook various roles including patrol, firearms and training. In 1995 he transferred to the Metropolitan Police Service and was posted to Croydon. In 1998 he moved onto the Diplomatic Protection Group based in Central London at Charing Cross. This role included providing protection to diplomats and government ministers. He moved onto Lambeth in 2001 and was initially at Kennington as a Sergeant. He was promoted to Inspector and after a year at Kennington moved onto Brixton where he took on the role of Youth Inspector. He worked with Lambeth Council as part of the Community Safety Team. His responsibilities included the Youth Offending Team, Safer Schools Partnership, Youth Inclusion Programme, Volunteer Cadets and Lambeth Summer Projects. In 2005 he moved onto Territorial Policing at Empress State Building where he was involved in the roll-out of Safer Neighbourhoods with specific responsibility for all boroughs in South-East London. In 2006 he was seconded to Safer London Foundation where he is Operations Manager.

Jill joined the Foundation in November 2005 as Operation Manager, coming from the corporate sector working in facilities project management. Some of the larger projects she worked on were HSBC Tower and Barclay’s Tower in Canary Wharf. Jill says, “keeping a team of 8,000 people happy is no easy task but I enjoyed every minute of it; an experience and opportunity that will live with me for years to come…”

Jill started at SLF on a six month secondment from Rentokil Initial, one of the Foundations first sponsors. Jill enjoyed the work that of the Foundation so much that now, nearly four years on, she heads up the Operations Department. As well as this busy role Jill also sits on the Executive Committee of the London Funders, chairs the London 2012 Olympics’ Clean & Safe committee (a strand of the 2012 Changing Places Programme) and is deputy chair of the Metropolitan Police’s, Safer London Problem Oriented Partnership Steering Group.

Since the beginning of August 2010 Dinah Cox OBE has been the interim Chief Executive Officer at the Safer London Foundation London Foundation, the Metropolitan Police Charity. She left her role as Senior Policy Advisor at the Government Equalities Office to join the Foundation. She studied social policy at South Bank University and the London School of Economics and has over twelve years experience in influencing, developing and funding social policy. This has included work as chief executive at ROTA, a London race equality think tank, as a grant maker at the trust Rosa and as the director of strategy at London Voluntary Services Council. She is committed to seeing a world where people can achieve regardless of their background.

Prior to her policy-related roles Dinah worked in a number of front-line charities focused on services for homeless individuals. She sits as a commissioner on the London Child Poverty Commission and on National Council for Voluntary Organisations Funding Commission. She is a board member of the Wembley National Stadium Trust and has recently become involved in supporting GAG – a new youth-focused social enterprise set up to address the impact of gangs on girls. She has a long term commitment to the Safer London Foundation and was its deputy chair and chair of the Foundations grants committee before standing down in 2010. Dinah’s other main commitment is her son Max.

Geoff trained as an actor in Bristol after leaving school, and worked in community theatre/arts in the Southwest for 10 years, as an actor, workshop leader, designer, and set/prop/costume maker and working to establish better funding for the community arts sector in the region. After moving to London, Geoff started work with a B2B marketing company as an account executive, eventually rising to the dizzy heights of senior account director/operations director, via the eccentric route of copywriting, graphic design, database and ICT management. After his second career change and 18 months working for St. Christopher’s Hospice in fundraising and as a charity shop manager, Geoff joined Safer London Foundation in 2006.

Jaylan joined the Foundation in April 2007 as a volunteer from a background in administration.

Jaylan started at SLF on a voluntary basis providing admin support and then took on a fulltime role as assistant administrator and shortly became PA to Chief Executive Tony Shepherd.

Jaylan also sits as an assessor on the the board of the Hardman Trust, one of the few charitable organisations that recognise the need to supplement the efforts of the Prison Service in providing resources for prisoners in the latter stages of a sentence of 10 years or more (male) or 7 years or more (female) and who wish to equip themselves to lead a crime-free life upon release.
