Steve Burton

About Overview Director of Community Safety, Enforcement and Policing at Transport for London (TfL). Directorate has responsibility for developing TfL strategies and policies and the performance and contract management of TfL’s agreements with agencies for policing services. Also provides crime reduction, problem solving, project management, mapping and analysis services. The Directorate contributes to TfL’s overall operational security agenda and has responsibility for revenue protection on London’s bus network and camera enforcement of traffic regulations. Steve previously worked for the GLA as Head of Strategic Performance, managing teams responsible for mayoral briefings on crime and transport issues and monitoring the activities of the GLA Group including TfL and the Met Police.

Cindy Butts

About Overview Deputy Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority. Prior to election she held research posts for the Economic Secretary to the Treasurer and at the House of Commons. Cindy is a member of the Home Secretary’s gun crime round table, the Operation Trident independent advisory group and chairs the Crown Prosecution Service Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel. Cindy has chaired and co-chaired various panels and led scrutiny and evaluation relating to a number of crime, disorder, domestic violence, terrorism and race relations topics and leads for the Authority on the Citizen Focus agenda within the Met Police. Specific interests: gun and knife crime; youth and diversity issues; women's issues; domestic violence; Taser deployment and citizen focused policing. She is an Accredited Independent Assessor for the Office of The Commission for Public Appointments, Advisor to the four Naval Service Museums and an Ambassador for both the Miss Dorothy Dot Com Charity and The Children’s Country Holiday Fund.

Lucy Dimes

About Overview CEO of Alcatel-Lucent’s operations in UK and Ireland. Before this, Lucy was Managing Director for Group & Openreach Service Operations in BT PLC. Lucy has had a successful career in BT for 19 years, having led a variety of teams in BT Global Services, BT Retail and BT Wholesale, sitting on the BT Operate Executive Board and the BT Group Global Equality & Diversity Board. Before that, she worked for a number for companies in marketing and product development. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.



Sarah Ebanja

About Overview Formerly London Development Agency Deputy Chief Executive and Group Director Jobs, Skills and Youth. With over 20 years’ experience operating at senior level in London’s public sector, Sarah was previously Islington Council’s lead Chief Officer for all matters relating to the Arsenal Development Scheme which has the Emirates Stadium as its centrepiece. Her voluntary interests include being a member of English Heritage’s and CABE’s Urban Advisory Panel; an advisor to Common Purpose and Chicks with Bricks; a non executive director of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust; a member of the RIBA Trust and The Prince’s Trust Regional Council.

Tim Godwin

About Overview Former Deputy Commissioner Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). Tim joined the MPS in 1999 as Commander (Crime) for South London and held several posts before being appointed Assistant Commissioner – Territorial Policing in 2002. During his time in Territorial Policing he oversaw the introduction of a number of ‘Havens’ in London where victims of serious sexual assault can receive medical and psychological support. He jointly led on the National Reassurance Policing Programme which included the roll-out of neighbourhood policing in England and Wales and the Safer Neighbourhoods programme in London. He was appointed MPS Deputy Commissioner in 2009. He was awarded the OBE in 2003 and the Queen’s Policing Medal in 2009. A keen rugby fan, having played in his younger years, he attends matches as and when time permits.

Richard Hall – Honorary Treasurer

About Overview A chartered accountant, Richard qualified in London with KPMG’s audit practice. He returned to London after a year in the firm’s Hong Kong office and then specialised in tax work, opening the tax practice in its Milton Keynes office and subsequently becoming a tax partner. He then went back to KPMG in London, specialising in tax investigation work and advising international groups on their tax reporting systems. He retired from the partnership in 2007. He now divides his time between London and Cornwall. His interests include the history of architecture and in particular the development of London, photography, opera, jazz and good food.

Ranjit Mathrani

About Overview Co-founder and Chairman of Masala World. A former senior civil servant, Ranjit has held senior management roles in investment banking and established an international financial advisory business. He became a restaurateur in 1996 when, with his wife Namita Punjabi and sister in law Camellia Punjabi, he took ownership of London restaurant Chutney Mary. They have since developed the Masala World group which encompasses fine dining restaurants including Veeraswamy, the oldest Indian restaurant in Britain and Masala Zone which offers casual dining. He is a former High Sheriff of Greater London.


Bruce Melizan

About Overview Executive Director of Interserve plc and Managing Director of Interserve’s Support Services Division. Bruce has been in the outsourcing industry for 14 years and has held a variety of roles in direct delivery, sales, marketing and general management. Previous organisations include Amey, Mowlem, Schlumberger and TYE Manufacturing, both in the UK and globally. He is a member of the Business Services Association Council.




Richard Reid – Chair of Trustees

About Overview Chairman of KPMG London which he joined in 1980. Richard's expertise encompasses working with international clients operating in consumer and industrial markets and corporate re-structuring. His clients include the Office of HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. He sits on the Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, on the Marketplace Taskforce of Business in the Community and is on the boards of the National Heart and Lung Institute and the British Lung Foundation. He is also a school governor.



Margaret Tree

About Overview Director of The Production Tree. Margaret is an experienced company director and film producer with a career spanning 30 years in the corporate film industry specialising in the production of training and information videos. She was involved in setting up Video Arts with John Cleese and Sir Antony Jay which pioneered the use of comedy writers and performers to bring humour to the field of management training. She jointly led a management buy-out of the company in 1989 and left to set up The Production Tree in 1999. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
